Discord Colored Text Generator
Create ANSI-formatted text for Discord messages. Unofficial tool.
Select a word or line, then apply a color or style.
Approximate preview
Discord rendering can vary by client and version. Use this preview as a guide, not a guarantee.
Discord ansi code block
Copy the full block, including the opening and closing backticks, then paste it into Discord.
Reset codes are included to help prevent colors from bleeding into the rest of your message.
Unofficial tool; not made, endorsed, or sponsored by Discord. Preview is approximate. Discord rendering can vary by client and version.
Works best in supported Discord desktop and web clients. Mobile rendering may vary, and some clients may show plain text or handle ANSI styles differently.
Discord ANSI uses a limited palette. Custom hex, RGB, or “any color” Discord chat text is not supported by this tool.
How to make colored text in Discord
To make colored text in Discord, create an ansi code block and paste it into a supported Discord client. This tool builds the code block for you.
- Type or paste your message into the editor.
- Select the exact word, phrase, or line you want to color.
- Choose a supported ANSI text color, background color, bold, or underline.
- Check the approximate preview.
- Click Copy for Discord and paste the full block into Discord.
Do not remove the triple backticks or the ansi label. Discord needs the fenced code block format to interpret ANSI styles.
Discord ANSI color codes and supported styles
Discord ANSI text uses a small set of terminal-style colors. It does not support arbitrary hex colors or full RGB chat colors. The palette below uses the ANSI 30–37 foreground and 40–47 background codes, with an approximate preview because Discord rendering can vary by client and version.
Foreground colors
Use text colors for short highlights, labels, status words, or warnings.
Background colors
Use background colors sparingly for emphasis. Background support can be more visually intense and may vary by client.
Reset codes and formatting limits
Bold and underline can help structure announcements, but not every style combination is guaranteed to render the same way everywhere.
Why Discord colored text may not work
If your Discord colored text does not render, the most common reasons are client support, missing ansi code block formatting, removed escape characters, unsupported colors, or a mobile client showing a different result.
- Make sure the copied text starts with triple backticks followed by ansi.
- Paste the complete block, including the closing triple backticks.
- Do not replace the invisible escape characters manually.
- Try Discord desktop or web if mobile does not render the colors.
- Use the supported ANSI palette instead of custom hex colors.
